ex-girlfriend. >> lisa: the victim lived in the apartment behind me. you can see the flours flowers d candles. people have been coming by four hours to pay their respects. >> they potentially arrived with candles, crosses, and condolences. they are mourning the loss of their friend and family member, sandra cruz gonsales. she young mother was stabbed to death a few feet from her home. now the manhunt is on for juan ramirez, the 29-year-old ex-boyfriend. >> the suspect and the victim had a dating relationship that ended two years ago. apparently he a has been trying to stalk the victim, multiple encounters with the police, reporting this activity. >> crews gonzalez lived here withher son. she was outside in a parking lot when ramirez attacked her. stabbing her in the neck and arms. >> held her head up, kept

pressure on it, and i said, who did this, any name? she couldn't talk. >> ramirez ran away and police and the s.w.a.t. team surrounded the area. a door-to-door search led nowhere. during the time residents were told to stay in their homes. he was in his apartment for three hours and new cruz gonzalez but didn't know about her ex-boyfriend. >> she was nice. and had no trouble out of anybody. >> police believe ramirez is driving this green pickup truck to mexico. detectives admit what happened yesterday is not only sad but frustrating. >> she was doing all the right things. contacting the police department, reporting these crimes. pulling out restraining orders, trying to protect herself. it's very unfortunate this happened. reporter: and this was san jose's tenth homicide of the year. live in san jose tonight, lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news.

>> ama: a san francisco club is closed after a shooting left three people wounded. it happened after 330 rich nightclub in south beach. one man is in critical but stable condition in the hospital. witnesses say dozens of shots were fired by one or more gunmen after an altercation. >> a big fight broke out, almost like a rumble. out of nowhere there was shot fired inside the club, there wad pandemonium, people scrambling everywhere. >> employing collected more than 50 pieces of evidence from the crime scene that stretched from the club, um the aley, -- alley, to a parking lot. a victim was pulled up conscious from a house fire tonight in san francisco. the fire broke out in the diamond heights neighborhood shortly after 9:00. this charred mattress is what is

left. the victim is hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries. >> the racing is back on track in marysville where two people were killed in a freak accident at the raceway a week ago tomorrow. marcus johnson was laid to rest in a private ceremony today. a public memorial is planned for tomorrow. flags were flown at half staff and a moment of silence was observed for marcus and bill wondergen. fans filled the stands in support of the victim and the sport. >> a real close family. we love coming here and watching this. what happened last weekend was sad. i think it's great everybody is here and still racing. >> ama: the crash is still under investigation but police say mechanical failure in the racecar appears to be the likely cause. new details on a fatal head-on collision that closed

highway 84 in pinole two hours this morning. a man was killed when his dodge see dan ran into an suv on the highway just west of main street after 9:00. you can see the tremendous impact of the crash that left both vehicles badly mangled. three passengers in the suv were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. chp is investigating the cause of the crash. for the second time this month, santa clara county paid cash for weapons. a gun buyback was held this morning in san jose. people turned in guns and they no longer wanted and got cash for their efforts. >> never use it. i don't want to take that chance, getting angry and using it. so, it's a good time to turn it in and make a profit. >> last year we finally reached the level of 12 guns. this year we have now gone over 500 guns just in this event alone. >> ama: $100 for handguns and rifles, 200 for assault-type

interstate 70 from denver to kansas. a different kind of mess in birmingham, alabama, overnight rain caused major flooding. cars trapped, unable to move in the water that was more than a foot deep and more serious weather is expected, including hail. >> in florida, state of emergency has been declared in columbia county because of flooding and wind damage. more than 200 trees have fallen in the area. six families have been displaced by the severe thunderstorm. >> there's one very lucky person in new jersey tonight. he or she has won over $338 million. that was the amount in the powerball jackpot, the sixth largest ever. the drawing was a few hours ago. players in 42 states, washington, dc, and the virgin island, drove up the kitty. californians will soon be able to join in the fun. tickets will bell offered for sale beginning april 8th.

bridge and the ferry building right now. earlier some of san francisco's most iconic landmarks went dark for an hour, all part of a global effort to get people to think about conserve vacation. the event is called earth power. >> 8:30 tonight the towers of the golden gate bridge went dark, the art installation on the bay bridge went dark, and san francisco city hall went dark. at least one person came to civic center to see the lights go out. >> i never seen it ever. >> the lights going out is all part of earth hour. >> reminds us all of the sustainability. >> because of programs like the city's recent ban on plastic shopping bags, efforts to promote solar energy, and the city's comprehensive composting program, this year san francisco was named earth hour city capitol for the u.s. i talked to the earth hour ceo by skype from singapore.

more current readings for you, santa rosa, 46. hayward, clear sky, 52. hoarse the forecast highlights. high clouds will be moving in and out of the bay area overnight. it will be a cool night. mostly sunny and mild for now jesus afternoon, and then we'll see showers move in here as we head into the middle part of next week, here's a look at the lows, north bay, and east bay locations, protected valley areas. that's where the coldest numbers will be. so santa rosa, 39. 39 for livermore, the closer to the bay, the peninsula, and the coast, temperatures moderate in the mid-to-low 40s. pacific satellite showing you high pressure off the coast. these are some of the high clouds that this high is just going to have to drift over the bay area. so, tomorrow much like today, high stays put. so patchy high clouds, plenty of sunshine. a little warmer tomorrow, and then monday and tuesday, this

man was murdered when he came to defend his mother-in-law. the woman was unloading her car when someone tried to rob her. an unidentified 33-year-old man was shot when he tried to help her. police are looking for two suspects, possibly a man and a woman, who drove away in a dark colored see dan. >> new details about an officer-involved shooting that wounded a castro valley man. the 49-year-old parolee was shot after pointing what looked to be a rifle at alameda county sheriff's deputies. deputies now say the gun was fake, made of wood. you can see it in our video here. the incident began last night when his family called 9-1-1 to report he was acting erratically. deputies say he also called 9-1-1 and threatened to kill deputies when they arrived. >> oakland city officials are continuing their community outreach to help fight crime today was the fifth in a series of town hall meetings. at the memorial cathedral on
